You can read hundreds of blog posts, books, and magazines about how beautiful the Ozarks is, and this is pretty much another one of them. For some of us, we eat, breathe, and sleep the rivers that the Ozark Mountains has to offer. My friends and co-workers and I are blessed that we can bring these rivers to hundreds of folks from, literally all over the country by selling them kayaks, canoes and yes, SUP boards. But, as our work days fill with people leaving with boats to head to these rivers we are left with pretty much the ONLY bad thing about our job, they get to go and we don’t. As the days grow longer we can remedy this in only one way, “After work floats”, because the rivers are so close to where we live it is nothing to close up shop at the end of the day and head down to the local Finley or James river. This is made even easier with our new love of Stand Up Paddle Boarding. You can pull up to the put in spot grab your board and your paddle and within seconds your smelling honeysuckle and the river air. These evening paddles also bring next day stories and allow us to work as friends which make the work day even more enjoyable as if our job was not enjoyable enough. Even though most of us spend our days off floating rivers and creeks further away from town our evening paddles let us think about how lucky we are to live in the Ozarks.

I am sure that we will have many more after work paddles and more stories to tell as the summer rolls on. I really do feel blessed that I can call my co-workers my friends. Whether it is Jaden, Ben and I or us three and our better halves, taking in the beauty of what the Ozarks has to offer is what life is all about.
This is just a little blog post I have been thinking about and how lucky some of us are to have good people in our lives. Granted when you work in the paddlesports industry you rarely have a bad day but after work paddles can be had by all. If you have had a bad day and you need a release then maybe you’re in need of a good paddle.
