The 2017 River Jam at Finley River park in Ozark Missouri has come and gone and I think it was a success. The day was clear and sunny and even though it was a bit on the warm side an awesome breeze kept it pleasant. River Jam is an annual event in Southwest Missouri that promotes river and stream clean up and clean water awareness. The James River Basin Partnership is the organization leading the way to keep the James River Watershed a place for hundreds of thousands of people. The event boast’s Food vendors, merchants and retailers and of course…… BANDS. Some of the area’s best Bluegrass and roots bands came out to play to the public all day.
I do not think the organizers and city had any idea the size the event was going to actually turn out to be. This photo does not do much justice to justify the size of crowds that came out. It was amazing to see the support that our waterways have. If I would have to guess on the amount, I would guess at least 2000 people came out. I worked the event all day and Ozark Mountain Trading had the perfect booth for this event. We were smack dab in the middle of the crowd not far from the main stage. This is the first River Jam that I have worked and even though I would not on the water it was some much fun to talk to all the folks interested in getting out on the beautiful rivers we have. The highlights of the day have to be talking to all of the OMTC family “Customers” I enjoy talking to them and listening to the stories they have of float trips they have taken.
